Monthly Expansion Concepts
In 2025 I have set the goal for myself to come up with a basic bare bones Idea for a custom Hearthstone expansion each month of the year. These concepts are mainly made to show off an overall setting or mechanic that a Hearthstone expansion could be based off of.
January:
Wolves of The Endless Gloom
The first of these Expansion Concepts is a set I called, Wolves of The Endless Gloom. This expansion is mainly based on a singular hook. The Moon Eater, Baku, has been resurrected and upon returning to Azeroth she consumed the sun. Now the world has been cast in eternal darkness, with the lone survivors fleeing to the rumored last surviving kingdom of Gilneas.
To show off this concept, I have my idea for what the new Baku card could look like!

February:
Romance on The Veiled Sea
For February I decided to really focus on the Valentines day spirit and try to make a Hearthstone expansion purely based on Romance genre. But of course with a Hearthstone twist. Kel'Thuzad is hosting a bachelorette style gameshow taking place on a romantic cruise aboard The Darkmoon Ferry, as the Lich is looking to enlist some eternal soulmates for some devious plot he has planned.
To show off this set I have one of my personal favorite cards I designed that's mechanic of 'swiping cards' perfectly fit the "Romance" theme I had set.
March:
MECHAGON: ASSEMBLED
My Expansion Concept for March had one major goal, tell a really cool story. I had this idea of expanding on the character Boom Master Flark, Dr. Boom's protege who turned on his boss during Rise of Shadow's. In this set, Flark has returned and located the mythical island of Mechagon in order to enlist the help of the genius king of the Mechagnomes, Mechagon himself. The goblin followers of Flark and the Mechagnomes have now joined forces to create the biggest bomb this world has ever seen, one capable of bringing an end to the Era of Flesh. The bomb being a new version of Mecha'thun.
April:
Champions of The New Throne
For April my goal with this concept was to redo an older project of mine by remaking the first set of a year long story line I had come up with a few years back.
The Year of Rafaam, is a story line told between 3 expansions that serves as a direct continuation of The Year of The Dragon. Starting with the return of Rafaam, who after his defeat, has stumbled across fragments of the cursed blade Frostmourne, using the reformed blade to defeat Bolvar and steal the mantel of The Lich King.
The first expansion of this storyline shows Rafaam's rise to power and his search for new Champions to serve his throne.
